DO THE WORKS OF JESUS

In the expansive world of Pauline Christianity, the concept of faith plays a central role, serving as a vital measure of connection to Jesus, whom believers recognize as the one true God. Many contend that individuals often falter in the face of trials due to a deficiency in faith. In contrast, others maintain that those with unwavering faith experience profound and overflowing grace.

Many struggle to grasp how faith is genuinely practiced while honoring the truth in this context. Numerous Christian preachers emphasize the Pauline teaching that the law of God cannot perfect or sanctify the soul. As it is written, this understanding is pivotal for proper spiritual growth.

Hebrew 7:
18  For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

19  For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

Romans 3:
20  Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Galatians 2:
16  Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Ephesians 2:
15  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Romans 3:
28  Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

The statement indicates that, as Paul argues, the law is ultimately ineffective and irrelevant in achieving holiness. This view emphasizes that adhering to the law does not lead to justification, highlighting that it cannot make anyone perfect.

If the law were so weak and useless for its purpose, it was only right that it should require a new substitute as a second, and that, according to this man, was "faith in Jesus Christ apart from the works of the law." Thus, it is very clear that in this gospel of uncircumcision, Paul boldly challenges the established laws of the one God, advocating for a transformative approach that emphasizes faith over rigid adherence to God's law.

In light of his assertions, God made a powerful statement about the significance of His commandments, proclaiming that…

Proverbs 7:

1  My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

2  Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

3  Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

Exodus 20:

6  And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

 Ecclesiastes 12:

13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Isaiah 40:

8  The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

 Psalm 111:

8  They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.

In the righteousness of the one true God, the words He spoke and the covenant established with those deemed holy on Earth are eternal truths that will never be diminished. Yet, followers of Paul argue that a different God has revised the law in the name of Jesus, substituting it with a profound faith in Him.

This belief suggests that true salvation comes through "faith in Jesus Christ, independent of the works of the law." This perspective invites individuals to embrace a transformational form of teaching that supposedly pertains to the realm of true holiness, which transcends and disagrees with the commandments of God as practiced by disciples of true holiness.

To understand the truth of Paul's assertion, we must delve deeply into Jesus' words. By examining His teachings closely, we can uncover the validity of these claims and align them with His messages.

As it is proclaimed, Jesus spoke these powerful words:

Matthew 5:

17  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

John 14:

31  But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

John 12:

50  And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

In contrast to Paul’s reasoning, Jesus made it unequivocally clear that he was fulfilling the law, acting in complete accordance with its principles. Moreover, the Father revealed to him—through the Spirit of God, who entirely resides within him—that faithful obedience to this law would lead to eternal life. This message underscores the importance of adhering to the law as the only pathway to spiritual fulfillment.

Everyone should understand that the law is not ineffective for its intended purpose; instead, it is a powerful guide that can lead anyone to eternal life. Jesus clearly states that obedience to the law of the one true God is the key to soul salvation and the redemption of sins in this world.

God's timeless declaration regarding His law remains robust and relevant. This law has endured unchanged from the distant past to the day of Jesus and beyond. Its significance will carry on through the ages, firmly established forever.

In other words, Jesus did not abolish or invalidate the law; instead, he upheld and affirmed it in the hearts and minds of the people of Israel at that time.

John 14:
10  Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

John 12:
44  Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

The two verses we just examined powerfully illustrate that the Spirit of God is present in Jesus and that Jesus exists within God. When you place your faith in Jesus due to the miraculous works he performed and the profound words he spoke, your belief is not solely in him but in the Spirit of God that operates through him. This divine Spirit accomplishes extraordinary deeds through the physical presence of Jesus, demonstrating the unity of their purpose and power as one in true holiness.

Therefore, believers in Jesus have abundant reasons to carry out these sacred acts with unwavering confidence and genuine purpose:

In this situation, it is clear that anyone who believes in Jesus must obey God's law, represented by the Ten Commandments. Failing to do so would make them appear dishonest and conceited. Following the law reflects the holiness that Jesus demonstrated during His time on Earth, providing a clear testimony of one's faith in Jesus and the one God in heaven.

Those who claim to believe in Jesus but disregard the law do not stand in the truth; instead, they rebel against the words of holiness that come from His mouth. This man is not of God but an enemy of Jesus and God. Antichrist is genuinely the closest word that can be called for such people.

As we conclude this discussion, may the powerful words of Jesus, known as the "gospel of the kingdom," take root in your thoughtful mind. If you sincerely believe in Jesus, actively embracing and practicing God's commandments, including the Ten Commandments, is vital. Accepting this responsibility is not just beneficial; it is the duty of every person on this earth.

Remember, obeying these commandments reflects our deep love for God and showcases our commitment to living a life aligned with His teachings.

The knowledge of divinity from Christ's mouth, known as the Gospel of the Kingdom, is a fundamental truth everyone must understand. Embrace this profound wisdom fully as you navigate your sacred path of salvation and forgiveness. Until we meet again, take care. Goodbye!
